در مورد ریشهٔ واژهٔ تُرش
واژهٔ ترش فارسی (توروش پهلوی) که ظاهراً ریشهٔ شناخته شده ای در فارسی ندارد در زبان آلمانی به صورت törtchen نظیر دارد:
The German word Törtchen is a diminutive of Torte, meaning “tart” or “small tart”. It refers to a small cake, often with a filling and a base of pastry. The suffix “-chen” is a German diminutive, making it a “little Torte”.
tart(adj.)
“having a sharp taste, pungent, sour, acidic,” late 14c., probably from Old English teart “painful, sharp, severe, rough” (in reference to punishment, pain, suffering), from Germanic *ter-t- (according to Watkins from PIE root *der- “to split, flay, peel;” compare tear (v.1)). But the gap in the record is unexplained.
